[return to Ishgnu Records homepage]
Welcome. You've stumbled across the official Internet home of Griffy the Cooper, a folk rock duo (and occasionally more) based out of Central Illinois. I hope you take the time to look things through and see what we're all about.

Basically, we need new photography.
You Cannot Lift Yourself, and other ramblings on record
28-May-08: We've been working on a lot of different things, including school and some side adventures (Barack Obama, making sandwiches, etc.), but we've completed our debut work, "You Cannot Lift Yourself". It's an eight track catch-all for different musical thoughts over the past year, and hopefully the variety will convey everything it was meant to.

About how this distribution (or, "Wat!? Thur's no disks!?")
We're not distributing this traditionally. It's not quite as generous of a system as Radiohead had, but for three dollars we'll send you your own full-quality version of the entire album and its artwork electronically.
The upsides of this are that we have no physical production costs. We don't have to pay to have anything printed, and all the proceeds can go back into our studio equipment for our future work, and the work of the other artists who use the Ishgnu facility. Additionally, you can receive the media immediately (via e-mail or direct connect transfer) and shipping costs aren't lumped onto what you pay. It's the easiest way for us to get our art to as many people as we can, which is our ultimate goal.
These tracks are not DRMed, nor are they of suspect quality. The music distribution industry is at a crossroads, and while we aren't drawing conclusions to which path it will take, this is our attempt at trying to make music a sustainable and (hopefully) enjoyable product, using this medium that has developed out of nowhere in the past decade and a half.
If you want a traditional version of the album, yes, we are have some printed, but they are to be considered a back ordered product at the moment. |
